working together to provide food security for the community of greater Elgin
Home
Hunger is a critical issue in the greater Elgin community
  • More than 11,000 people live in poverty in Elgin and South Elgin, Illinois (a family of four earning less than $22,350 per year.)
  • More than half the children in Elgin schools participate in free or reduced-cost lunch programs
  • A recent food insecurity study calculates over 19,000 adults and children in the city of Elgin are food insecure.*
  • Each month, more than 1,500 Elgin families travel outside of Elgin to receive emergency food assistance.
Access to nutritious food has become a daily challenge for many families in our community  - we can all help!
